Program Details
This Monthly Career Coaching consists of bi-weekly email correspondence and 2 live virtual roundtables with Joey every other Thursday from 4pm - 5:30pm PT. Every other roundtable will include an exec co-host.
For the email correspondence, include:
- What you have been doing for marketing
- What script you are working on next
- Any questions for potential contests or fellowships to submit to
- If you had any script requests, traction, interest, etc
- Questions on what companies to target
- Questions on how to use any movement for leverage
The roundtables will include discussions on:
- State of the industry
- What execs are looking for
- How to use any traction as leverage
- General meeting advice
- Pitching advice
- Suggestions on who to pitch to
- Deciphering pitching feedback
- Helping with fellowship essays
- Logline help
- Navigating the contest circuit
Joey started in the industry at Bold Films (DRIVE, NIGHTCRAWLER, WHIPLASH) and has read for Hugh Jackman's company, George Clooney's company, and Night and Day Pictures, to name a few. Experiencing how hard it was for writers to receive real tangible advice on how to break into the industry, Joey and Dorian created Roadmap Writers over 7 years ago. At Roadmap, Joey focuses on connecting vetted writers with execs in the industry. He has helped hundreds of writers connect to their representation, get staffed and get produced. He also mentors for Cinestory and The Writers Lab. When he's not helping writers, he spends his time rescuing animals in need.
