I'm always drawn to animation, comedy, and scifi -- across both film and television. For TV I'm drawn to higher-concept adult animation but love anything silly. I also prefer grounded sci-fi or near-fi for TV. I prefer more epic sci-fi projects in the features space and sillier or moving animation in features as well (e.g. MEMOIR OF A SNAIL, FLOW, FANTASTIC MR. FOX, WALL-E, SHREK). I love almost any story across genres and mediums as long as it's character-driven and consistently engaging.
Generally averse to religious-related horror and excessively bloody or gory projects. I do enjoy things with levity however (e.g. SCREAM, BODIES BODIES BODIES, TALK TO ME, THE BOYS). I don't mind period pieces but they don't ever seem to work in TV unless there's enough to make it fun (e.g. THE GREAT). I also find myself avoiding very dark, depressing dramas, especially those with unsatisfying, sad endings (true stories or innovative ideas exempt!).
Keyon Tehrani has nearly a decade of experience primarily at two globally-recognized independent studios working across premium television and film development, production, and distribution. After studying film and media at UCSB, he briefly served as an Associate Producer on CBS lifestyle series THIS IS SF/THIS IS LA before beginning a permanent full-time position at Lionsgate Entertainment working in a new department, Strategic Partnerships, which worked cross-functionally across film, television, distribution and marketing to find and execute on new revenue streams across the company's vast IP portfolio. There, he primarily supported distribution and acquisition potential for existing series and films, both produced and at the end of the development stage. He then moved over to film financier Village Roadshow Entertainment Group (MATRIX, OCEAN'S 11, MAD MAX, JOKER, WONKA) in 2019 and supported the company's new strategy by joining the scripted television team as they began their journey as an independent studio.
Keyon’s work at Village Roadshow focused on series development of numerous original and IP-based projects in the company's library including HEATHERS, DONNIE DARKO, ARLINGTON ROAD, and NASH BRIDGES to name a few, the latter of which was made into a TV movie/backdoor pilot at NBCU which he also supported production on from the studio side. He supported development on several big-budget sci-fi series including one adapted from a screenplay by Jon Spaihts which in turn was adapted from a Hugo award-winning book. Additionally, he acted as a point person for the company's deal with Happy Madison Television, developing over two dozen projects in partnership with the iconic production outfit including a drama series with the Safdie Brothers for HBOMax and a comedy for Peacock with Jamie Lee Curtis based on a hit podcast series. He also acted as a back-up point person to the TV studio’s other deals including Moonshot Entertainment (Bryan Cranston), Content Cartel (Kevin Garnett), and Abso-Lutely Productions (Tim & Eric) among others. Fielding writers and directors for both development and staffing became a key aspect of his work as the company’s slate increased significantly. Additional projects he worked on included the innovative comedy series TIGHTROPE for Roku with Bryan Cranston and Ty Burrell, which is currently in pre-production, as well as WE MIGHT REGRET THIS, a 6-episode comedy co-production with the BBC which was quickly picked up for two additional seasons after airing in 2024.
He has also served as a reader for Happy Madison’s film division, fielding screenplays and novels submitted to the company, and has served as a freelance script consultant with up-and-coming writers by providing both creative notes and business insights.
