Here at Roadmap, we always encourage our writers to find new and different ways to get their work out there. One way to do that is to make your own content. Plenty of writers have found success (and become better writers) by rolling up their sleeves and making their own short or microbudget films. Be it a Proof of Concept to help get your work out there, or making something to then enter into festivals, transitioning from writer to writer-director means you need a new set of tools.

If you’re interested in directing a project but the how seems daunting, don’t worry, we hear you. And writer/director Patrick Metcalf is here to help get you started on this journey.

This 90 Minute Webinar Will Cover

  • Writing with production in mind
  • Who's who in the crew
  • How to work with what you already have
More about
Patrick Metcalf
Writer, Director, Producer
Independent

Patrick Metcalf is a writer, director, and producer of films, television, and home videos of dogs and babies. His films and TV shows have played in such places as MTV, Tubi, Amazon Prime, Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, and dozens of less impressive venues.

Patrick's episode of Amazon Prime's UNDONE received wide acclaim, with
RogerEbert.com calling it “arguably the most detailed and complex
designs the show has ever tackled to striking success.” The episode went on to receive the Writers Guild of America Award for best animation, an honor which Patrick proudly shared with co-writer Elijah Aron

Originally from the suburbs of Chicago and a proud Northwestern University graduate, Patrick has brought his midwestern sensibility and humility to Los Angeles, making writing bios like this VERY uncomfortable for him. He will stop now.
