In virtual roundtables limited to only 10 people, each writer will have 5 minutes to practice their pitch with an exec that specializes in the genre(s) you write in . The pitch should be 2-3 minutes, leaving time for the exec to provide verbal feedback.
The host of each Roundtable will select one writer to advance to the Pitch Finale.
I love a personal connection to a story. You don't need to necessarily pull from your own life, but there should be something about the story, characters, or world that drew you as the writer in. From there, you can build the basis of why I as the buyer should care about this project, and moreover why it shouldn't just feel like another box on the development slate. Executives are really busy, often times juggling dozens of projects at once, so your pitch needs to stand out as something they'd be willing to put in overtime for. The best pitches I've heard over the years didn't just have a hook, they had an emotional center that made me want to hear more.
Any and all genres! I have helped build companies with a wide range of outputs, including films, TV shows, and documentaries in all genres. With this in mind, I love to constantly work on something different, rather than falling into one lane or another. Realistically, many films and shows that are made today are a blend of two or more genres. Most recently I balanced a coming-of-age TV show with a documentary on the deathcare industry. Believe it or not, working on each of these really helped with the other!

He has also taught at various institutions including New York University and the University of California, Los Angeles. Brandon holds an Ed.D. from the University of Louisiana at Monroe, an MBA from the University of Arizona, and a BA in Communication from the University of Southern California. He also completed the Professional Program in Producing at the University of California, Los Angeles.
