Though I enjoy a variety of genres (with me, often the weirder, the better), I'm really excited by stuff that is dynamic, unique and voice-y. When I read a pilot, I want to be able to see a piece of the writer's soul -- almost as if the writer is speaking to me directly through their characters and stories. I really love reading genre and genre-bending comedy pieces, but I always want to read things in these spaces that are character-forward rather than universe-forward -- more STAR VS. THE FORCES OF EVIL and ANDOR than DUNE, for example. It's so important that every story has a way in -- and I think by focusing more on the characters, as characters are the ones that audiences really hold onto, that's how these stories really transcend.
I'm definitely not your person to go to with any middle-of-the road things. I'm not particularly interested in political dramas or procedurals (unless you're coming at these stories from a POV that we've really never seen before), and I'm not particularly interested in multi-cam comedies unless they're coming from a unique POV.
Born and raised in Hong Kong to a Filipino mom and a Chinese-Filipino dad, Lyra has been a lifelong lover of stories and fantasy. Lyra's dream is to have the opportunity to discover stories for the screen that are both diverse and universal -- while diversity is incredibly important, universality is even more so (and everything needs a little sprinkle of magic). Lyra previously worked at Gersh where she had the incredible privilege of working with amazing writers and directors on hit shows such as MAYOR OF KINGSTOWN, REASONABLE DOUBT, SPIDER-MAN: NOIR and ONE PIECE. Most importantly, Lyra is almost always at Disneyland.
