While it is true that there are as many paths to success as there are people, there’s always a helpful takeaway from any great conversation with someone successful in their writing career.

More about
Kelli Crawford

Kelli Crawford is a Los Angeles-based writer, actor and producer. She was born and raised in Michigan and spent several years in New York City. She started writing at a young age and has since accumulated a number of pilots, features, novels, and plays. She’s had articles and essays published in various newspapers and magazines.  Her novel, The Rocker Chicks of Babe*Corps, received the “Outstanding Fiction” award at The Irvine Writer’s Conference in 2017. She is repped by Chip MacGregor of MacGregor & Luedeke Literary.

Kelli’s script for Christmas a la Carte was produced in 2020 and released in foreign markets in 2021, and will air on Lifetime in 2022 (though the title may change for U.S.).
Her pilot script, The Dominants, written with a partner, won the 2019 “35Pilot” Contest sponsored by She Called Action. The script was also a finalist in the 2019 Writers’ Assistant Network pilot contest.

As an actor she loves “The Thea-tah,” and for a time she was a staff member and actor at The Street School Artist’s Club theater company. She has numerous credits in theatre and film and has studied with Howard Fine Acting Studio, A Noise Within, The Blank Theatre, The Groundlings, and Stella Adler Academy. She’s a former member of the online sketch comedy troupe, Sketch Shorty, as an actor/writer/director and editor. Some of her notable sketches are Women Are Pigs, Adam and Evening, and Sex and the Pity.

She co-founded the production company, Frantic Lounge Films, which produced her short film, Voices Keri, in which she wrote and also stars.

Acting and writing go hand-in-hand for her but music was Kelli’s first love. She was first chair flute in jazz, symphony, and orchestra bands. She went to college on the Sunset Strip. As a former staff writer for Rock City News, a Los Angeles music newspaper, she wrote music reviews for local bands and arena concerts. She was a co-promoter on the Strip booking bands into various clubs like the Whisky, The Troubadour, and The Roxy.

Kelli loves rock ‘n’ roll, travel, and long, indulgent dinners especially if there are crab cakes. She’s a work-in-progress ballet dancer, speaks enough Italian to get by (or get in trouble), and shares her sun-drenched home with a hilarious, weird cat named Trevi.
