Let’s get real here - there are a lot of elements that go into a successful screenwriting career, but the scripts themselves are only one part of that. The other elements come down to marketing. Everything from your concept, to the logline, to the elevator pitch, to the list of companies you want to reach out to. All these elements go into a successful career, and mastering them is often the difference between building and maintaining good connections and not.
What makes a marketable concept? Is it something you can identify beforehand, or does the market dictate what is and isn’t marketable? Tune in with Ryan Busse to learn all about how to craft your next concept for maximum commercial appeal!
A graduate of San Diego State University, Ryan Busse is currently a Producer at independent production company STORY Collective, which is currently producing the coast guard drama series SO OTHERS MAY LIVE at UCP and original musical Nativity feature AMERICAN LEGEND alongside Gran Via (DON’T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK; CHASING MAVERICKS; THE NOTEBOOK) and Anonymous Content (THE MIDNIGHT SKY; THE LAUNDROMAT). Ryan started his career in the talent department at WME (CALL ME BY YOUR NAME; DON’T BREATHE) where he worked his way up to talent department coordinator. He then moved to Allison Shearmur Productions where he was intimately involved in the sourcing, development, and production of the company’s film and television slate, including such projects as SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY, ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY, and Disney’s live-action CINDERELLA.
