Roundtable Instructions

Please email your bio to the exec 48 hours before your meeting.

If you are not scheduled in a session, you should still attend as there is sometimes room for auditors to do a 3 minute pitch at the end.

If you are running late for a session, can't find a link or are having technical difficulties, please email moderatorroadmap@gmail.com and put the exec's name in the subject line that you are referring to.

You will get the links for your session on Friday before your allotted roundtables! You will click on the Zoom link and there will be a Roadmap moderator on throughout the whole roundtable. The exec will start the Roundtable with a little intro on themselves and then the Moderator will intro each of you at your time to the exec and give you a 10 minute warning and a 2 minute warning and then let you know when your 20 minutes is over. The moderator will talk to the exec privately at the end of the roundtable to see who they want to request and then I'll let those writers know after.

Each Roundtable will be 20 minutes. To begin you should spend the first few minutes of your time building rapport and "getting to know" the exec. Next you should be prepared to deliver a 5-8 minute pitch for your project. Afterwards, the exec will ask you questions, give feedback, or may ask you to pitch something else. Other things you should be prepared to do during this time are, come in with any specific questions you might have as well as having 2 minute elevator pitches for other projects in case they want you to pitch something else.

Make sure you keep this conversational and engage the exec. This shouldn't feel like an interview, this should feel like a two-way conversation between you and the exec.

Please try to stay in each session as long as you can. If you can't, please make sure you're on 20 minutes before you are supposed to be pitching. I know that some sessions are happening at the same time so you will jump from one to another!

If the exec requests additional material from you following a session, please send it directly to them at the Roadmap email listed on the page. Make sure that your subject line is Requested - Your Name - Script Title. In the body of the email, please include the title, format, logline and comps.

Alex will post the Zoom links for each weekend's sessions on the Friday before that weekend.

DON'TS:

  • Do not ask the exec if you can send them additional material.
  • Do not say things like "this is the first time I'm pitching this, I'm not really prepared, etc."
  • Do not keep the camera on if you are going to do something distracting and keep your mic off until it's your turn.
  • If you couldn't attend the beginning of the roundtable when the exec introduces themselves, do not ask the exec to reintroduce themselves when it's your turn.

Your Roundtable schedule will be posted at the beginning of the month!
