BIO
Dennis Gonzalez is a gay Honduran-born, LA-based screenwriter who was raised in Long Island, New York. After a rocky childhood, competitive wrestling career, and mediocre high school performance, Dennis majored in Political Science at St. John's University, receiving his bachelor's and master's degrees with honors.
After college, he worked to improve the conditions of the notorious jails in New York City, including those on Rikers Island. Simultaneously, Dennis studied screenwriting with Roadmap Writers and the Jacob Krueger Studio. He also interned and provided script coverage for Sarah Jessica Parker's Pretty Matches Productions.
Looking at his experiences, relationships, and the struggles and joys of others, particularly those in marginalized groups, Dennis sees his relentless passion for film as the ultimate vessel for exploring humanity. He writes dramas with self-destructive characters struggling with self-worth, identity, and damaged relationships. Dennis's most recent LGBT coming-of-age sports drama, SWEET, SWEET BOY, won the Roadmaps Coletta Preacely-Garcia Diversity Fellowship.
