A creative administrator for over ten years, DE CARLA APPLEWHAITE has been actively involved in Barbados’ and the Region’s Cultural Network. The first Producer of the Errol Barrow Centre for Creative Imagination, the Creative Arts Centre of the UWI Cave Hill Campus, De Carla sits on the prestigious Frank Collymore Literary Endowment Committee of the Central Bank of Barbados and is the Executive Producer of the Barbados Independent Film Festival. Her enthusiasm for the arts & culture and the creative economy engages her passion for Arts Marketing, and she has filled roles as a Marketing & Communications for Rise Barbados, Xhosa Barbados, the SVG Roots & Rhythms Festival in St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Emmanuella & Friends Comedy Show in St. Lucia and Cooler Vibes, to name a few entertainment brands in the Caribbean. Thanks to her experience in teaching from primary to tertiary and community level, it would be remiss of her not to share. There is nothing more that she loves than mentoring, mentoring ideas, and working with young people. De Carla will always find time to share her knowledge and experience with young creatives and entrepreneurs in Social Media, Public Relations and Event Management. Finally, De Carla also lectures in Event Management in the Barbados Community College's BA Arts & Entertainment Management programme and the Barbados Institute of Management & Productivity's Certificate in Event Planning.
