Interview with Daniel James Clark

What drew you to the entertainment industry?
Honestly it was the family aspect of it. No matter what facet of the industry you are in, you will always be surrounded by like minded people who are all charging towards the same goal and that creates a real sense of camaraderie and family, and I really love that. It brings out the best in me.

What's your favorite part about working with writers?
Being able to be a part of the creative process with a writer is what makes it special, for me. There’s such an incredible energy that get kicks up when a writer puts pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) and being able to help channel that energy is a very special thing.

What gets you most excited about a writer's pitch?
Hearing how a writer’s personality and worldview can shape the story they’re telling. Hearing how they describe things, or what parts of the story they choose to focus on is a fascinating view into a writers mind and can really tell you a lot about the writer themselves.

What's one bit of advice that helps you the most in this industry?
Learn how to detach. There’s a lot of people that glorify overworking yourself.  Ignore them. Find things that are just for you that have absolutely nothing to do with the industry. And make time to do them.

What's your favorite non-industry-related hobby or activity?
I am an avid Sim Racer and Open Wheel Racing fan. I haven’t missed an Indianapolis 500 in 17 years (discounting 2020, no fans were allowed in) and spend most of my nights either behind the wheel of my iRacing simulator or doing commentary for the Global Sim Racing Channel.
