More about Monique Sorgen

Monique Sorgen is a French-American writer-director who uses comedy to upend the cultural expectations of a woman's place in society. Raised in an idealistic hippie house, her projects are fun but thought-provoking. She is a fellow in the Sony Directors Program, BlackMagic Collective, and in Alliance of Women Directors’ Directing the Actor Lab. She has written & directed multiple award-winning comedy films, SORRY, NOT SORRY, ROCK A BYE BABY and LYING IS COMPLICATED as well as an award-winning drama, RANDOM CHECK and an award winning webseries CODEPENDENT SOCKS! and her first short film PANTS ON FIRE was distributed on ARTE in France and Germany. She recently completed a 10 episode Vertical series and is in post-production on her NonDe feature film ONE DAY IN SEDONA starring Alysia Reiner (Orange is the New Black) and Wallace Langham (Crime Scene Investigation). Her novel HOW LONG YOU SHOULD WAIT TO HAVE SEX is under option as a feature. As a screenwriter, she has developed with Imagine, DiNovi, USA/UCP, Morgan Freeman’s Revelations, and David Oyelowo’s Yoruba Saxon, among many others, and works in TV. In her free time, she hosts the Writers Guild podcast “3rd & Fairfax,” creates political messaging for The Writers Brigade & Jane Fonda's Committee for the First Amendment, and directs theater, and teaches directing.

How it Works

Upon registering, you will receive instructions on how to submit your material in your order confirmation email. After submitting your material, please allow about 3-4 weeks to receive proposed times for scheduling your call with the exec. If you haven't heard from your exec by the 3-4 week mark about scheduling, please email terra@roadmapwriters.com so we know to check in with them on your behalf about their proposed dates/ETA for you.

Your private pitch practice session will take place over video conferencing software ZOOM so you will have a link to review the recording of your session at your leisure!

**Please note written pitches are limited to 2 pages maximum. Please contact terra@roadmapwriters.com for pricing on a consultation for a written pitch exceeding 2 pages.

Be sure to familiarize yourself with Roadmap's Code of Conduct.

Questions? Email terra@roadmapwriters.com

Cancellation Policy: You may cancel your registration for a refund or Roadmap gift card if you have not yet submitted your material for review. However, once your material has been received by Roadmap, your registration cannot be canceled. Having revised material or a desire to retroactively apply a discount or gift card code are not grounds for cancellation, refunds, or gift card credit. Once your material has been submitted, the only acceptable grounds for cancellation and a refund or gift card credit is an unforeseen, ongoing emergency on the part of either the writer or the exec resulting in more than 6 weeks without any scheduling update from the exec via direct contact or Roadmap, or a sudden change in the exec's ongoing availability. In the instance of an irreconcilable scheduling issue, the writer may still receive a written feedback report from the exec. In this case, the writer is not entitled to a refund or gift card credit as the exec has read the submitted material and provided written feedback in lieu of the call.
