She has a proven track record in sourcing, acquiring and delivering award-winning, commercially successful content, underpinned by deep knowledge of the UK and global content landscape and an extensive network of industry contacts.
As Founder of Apogee Pictures, Jo has developed a slate of bold, globally resonant projects with leading UK and international talent. During her two years in Sydney, she established co-productions with top Australian and New Zealand partners, including THE AVIATRIX (shortlisted for C21’s Drama Series Pitch 2019) and THE STRAYS, working alongside acclaimed and award-winning creatives such as Louise Hooper (LORD OF THE RINGS) and Shannon Murphy (DYING FOR SEX).
Previously, Jo was Head of Acquisitions & Development at Motion Picture Capital, where she managed over £80M through its EIS Fund and executive produced a slate of films including HAMPSTEAD, KODACHROME, COME AND FIND ME, THE CRUCIFIXION, THE TITAN, A DARK PLACE and THE BOY DOWNSTAIRS. She also launched and ran the company’s Development Fund, collaborating with writers, agents and publishers to source and develop original and existing IP. In this role, she script-edited extensively, providing detailed notes and guiding projects to the highest editorial standards.
She began her career at Entertainment One, where she acquired a roster of Academy Award-winning and nominated titles — including 12 YEARS A SLAVE DALLAS BUYERS CLUB and SPOTLIGHT, in addition to FOXCATCHER, ARRIVAL, PRISONERS, NIGHTCRAWLER, THE IMPOSSIBLE, CALVARY, and KILLER JOE — as well as major TV and home entertainment titles such as THE WALKING DEAD and HELL ON WHEELS, helping establish eOne as the UK’s leading independent distributor.
Jo has also worked with Rooks Nest Entertainment, Left Bank Pictures, Protagonist Pictures and Momentum Pictures, supporting development, acquisitions and production across a wide range of projects.
Jo holds a First-Class MA in English Literature from Trinity College Dublin and La Sorbonne, Paris. With extensive experience in script editing and development, she brings both critical rigour and creative insight to every project. Alongside her executive career, she has also written a novel, further enriching her perspective on storytelling from the writer’s side of the process.
Having lived and worked in London, Paris, Dublin and Sydney, Jo combines sharp editorial instincts with commercial expertise and a truly international outlook. She is passionate about championing new voices, identifying stories that travel, and forging the creative and commercial partnerships that bring ambitious projects to the screen.
Private Month Mentorship
Each month mentorship kicks off with a preliminary 15-min. call to set expectations and lay out strategy for the month. Writer will have email access to the executive plus 4x one-hour consultations with the exec. Exec will read up to 4 scripts in one month (different drafts of the same script or 4 different scripts) and conduct 4x one-hour story notes calls. Calls can also include feedback on your pitch, branding, or career strategy.
If you pay with the deposit/payment plan, your second half will be due the 2nd week of the Mentorship. If you need a different type of payment plan, email dorian@roadmapwriters.com.
**Please note feature screenplays are limited to 120 pages maximum. Please contact terra@roadmapwriters.com for pricing on a Month Mentorship on screenplays exceeding 120 pages.
What To Expect
After registering, you will receive an automatic Order Confirmation email. Then Roadmap's Director of Consultations, Terra Joy, will get your mentor looped in with you! If you do not hear from Terra or the exec within 3 days of registering, feel free to email terra@roadmapwriters.com for an update.
Before starting your Month Mentorship, please ensure you are familiar with our Code of Conduct.
Cancellation Policy: You may cancel your registration for a refund or Roadmap gift card if you have not yet submitted your material for review. However, once your material has been received, your registration cannot be canceled. Having revised material or a desire to retroactively apply a discount or gift card code are not grounds for cancellation, refunds, or gift card credit. Once your material has been submitted, the only acceptable grounds for cancellation and a refund or gift card credit is an unforeseen, ongoing emergency on the part of either the writer or the exec resulting in more than 6 weeks without any scheduling update from the exec via direct contact or Roadmap, or a sudden change in the exec's ongoing availability. In the instance of an irreconcilable scheduling issue, the writer may still receive a written feedback report from the exec. In this case, the writer is not entitled to a refund or gift card credit as the exec has read the submitted material and provided written feedback in lieu of the call.
