More about David Hopwood

A native of Los Angeles, David Hopwood graduated from The University of Southern California with degrees in Creative Writing and Cinema/Television. He began his career in entertainment in the training program of Michael Ovitz's Artist Management Group. There, he worked for esteemed talent manager and producer Ellen Goldsmith-Vein (currently CEO of The Gotham Group). In 2002, he joined former studio chief Mark Canton (300, IMMORTALS) at the foundation of Atmosphere Entertainment as his assistant.

At Atmosphere Entertainment, he shepherded many films, including THE SPIDERWICK CHRONICLES, PIRANHA 3D, LETTERS TO JULIET, IMMORTALS, CAKE, MR. CHURCH, 300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE and DEN OF THIEVES. During his time at Atmosphere, he helped create a diverse slate and ultimately rose to the title of President of Production and Development. David also produced the hit TV series POWER for Starz where he played a critical role in the inception, development, and selling of the show.

In 2017, he served as an adjunct professor for SYRACUSE UNIVERSITY'S LOS ANGELES PROGRAM. There, he taught juniors and seniors of the prestigious NEWHOUSE SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATIONS the college course BUSINESS AND DEVELOPMENT OF FILM PRODUCTION. This course focused on taking the students to get a film made from an idea through distribution.

Hopwood now co-runs a new production shingle, A GROUP OF FERRETS, with longtime collaborator Michael K. Dwyer and producer Corey Moosa (MARGIN CALL, ALL IS LOST).

He is also a Producers Guild of America (PGA) member.

How it Works

After registering, you will receive instructions on how to submit your material in your order confirmation email. Please be sure to submit a one-pager of loglines and either 2 scripts (50 pages each), 3 scripts (33 pages each), or 4 scripts (25 pages each). After submitting your material, please allow 3-4 weeks to receive proposed times for scheduling your call with the exec.

Be sure to familiarize yourself with Roadmap's Code of Conduct.

Questions? Email terra@roadmapwriters.com

Cancellation Policy: You may cancel your registration for a refund or Roadmap gift card if you have not yet submitted your material for review. However, once your material has been received by Roadmap, your registration cannot be canceled. Having revised material or a desire to retroactively apply a discount or gift card code are not grounds for cancellation, refunds, or gift card credit. Once your material has been submitted, the only acceptable grounds for cancellation and a refund or gift card credit is an unforeseen, ongoing emergency on the part of either the writer or the exec resulting in more than 6 weeks without any scheduling update from the exec via direct contact or Roadmap, or a sudden change in the exec's ongoing availability. In the instance of an irreconcilable scheduling issue, the writer may still receive a written feedback report from the exec. In this case, the writer is not entitled to a refund or gift card credit as the exec has read the submitted material and provided written feedback in lieu of the call.
