I accept queries via email. Do not contact me via social media. Please do check our agency website's submission page for most accurate information as to whether I am currently open to queries at the time you are planning your submissions.
For fiction, essays, or narrative nonfiction, please send a query letter and the first 10-15 pages in the body of your email.
For all other nonfiction (e.g. history, biography, technology, etc.), please send a query letter in the body of the email. If you have a proposal prepared, please send it as an attachment. Word is preferred but not required.
Submissions, including queries, proposals and manuscripts, must be the original work of the author and not generated or co-written using artificial intelligence tools.
Ayla Zuraw-Friedland joined the Frances Goldin Literary Agency in 2022 after starting her agenting career at The David Black Agency in 2019. Previously, she worked as an editorial assistant and assistant editor at Beacon Press in Boston, and as a development editor for encyclopedias at Oxford University Press. She received her BA in English and Creative Writing from Connecticut College in 2015, and her writing can be found or is forthcoming in The Drift, Excerpts Magazine, GAY the Magazine, Publishers Weekly, and The Cape Cod Poetry Review. She is interested in literary fiction and nonfiction that inspect big questions about queer identity, class, community, and art & technology through a personal lens. Please note that she does not represent Young Adult, Middle Grade, or Picture Books.

After registering, you will receive instructions on how to submit your material in your order confirmation email. After submitting your material, please allow about 8-10 weeks to receive proposed times for scheduling your call with the exec. If you haven't heard from your mentor by the 8-10 week mark about scheduling, please email terra@roadmapwriters.com so we know to check in with them on your behalf about their proposed dates/ETA for you.

Cancellation Policy: You may cancel your registration for a refund or Roadmap gift card if you have not yet submitted your material for review. However, once your material has been received by Roadmap, your registration cannot be canceled. Having revised material or a desire to retroactively apply a discount or gift card code are not grounds for cancellation, refunds, or gift card credit. Once your material has been submitted, the only acceptable grounds for cancellation and a refund or gift card credit is an unforeseen, ongoing emergency on the part of either the writer or the exec resulting in more than 6 weeks without any scheduling update from the exec via direct contact or Roadmap, or a sudden change in the exec's ongoing availability. In the instance of an irreconcilable scheduling issue, the writer may still receive a written feedback report from the exec. In this case, the writer is not entitled to a refund or gift card credit as the exec has read the submitted material and provided written feedback in lieu of the call.
