Susan Arscott writes holiday romantic comedy screenplays and family-friendly fiction that blend humor, heart, and warmth. Growing up as one of eight children taught her early that chaos and love often arrive together and that laughter is how people get through hard things. That understanding shapes every story she tells.
Her path to screenwriting began after attending a lecture by filmmaker Michael Mann, when visual storytelling clicked in a way that stayed with her. When brain surgery later forced her to step away from her role as a college vice president, she took it as an invitation to finally study the craft full time and never looked back. She tells stories built around hope, connection, and joy. She lives on a small ranch outside Austin, Texas, with her husband and a herd of nosy cows who critique everything she writes.
She holds an MFA in Writing from Spalding University and has trained with Roadmap Writers, ISA, and multiple Holiday Romcom Bootcamps, always chasing the line between humor and heartfelt. It is, after all, a very fine line.
