Rita Lobo is a Brazilian-born screenwriter based in the United Kingdom. She was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro and later moved to London, where she earned an MA in Scriptwriting from Goldsmiths, University of London. Her work focuses on character-driven stories that blend romance, humour, and heartfelt emotion, often set against vivid and distinctive backdrops.
Rita wrote the television movie The Royal Bake-Off, and her scripts frequently explore themes of belonging, community, and second chances. Growing up in Brazil and building her life in the UK has given her a deep appreciation for stories that bridge cultures and perspectives, bringing warmth, optimism, and a global sensibility to the worlds she creates.
