Currently being actively packaged: Jaquie Brown’s feature THE KITCHEN SINK, based on the iconic New Zealand short film of the same name, has Taika Waititi attached to produce. Jaquie’s original screenplay BASEMENT BARRY has Natasha Rothwell’s (INSECURE, THE WHITE LOTUS) Big Hattie Productions attached to produce, and Natasha will also star. In New Zealand, Jaquie's TV series BIRDIE is in development, with Jaquie writing and starring.
Jaquie has crafted a unique brand of female-centric dark comedy that simultaneously balances the sweet and sour, kicks you in the guts and kisses you passionately. In New Zealand, Jaquie Brown is a household name, having co-created and starred in her own comedy series based on her life, The Jaquie Brown Diaries. The show won Best Comedy at the national TV awards and aired in the US, Finland and Australia. It featured Taika Waititi (JOJO RABBIT), Rhys Darby (JUMANJI, OUR FLAG MEANS DEATH) and Ant Starr (THE BOYS) and was directed by Gerard Johnstone (M3GAN). As a voice artist, Jaquie is four years into voicing the character SORRY for the award-winning animated series KIRI & LOU alongside Jemaine Clement (FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS, WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS), which airs on the BBC in the UK and Nickelodeon Jnr in the US and was nominated for a BAFTA and the feature length movie will be out in 2027. More recently, Jaquie wrote the memoir “The Life of Dai” about New Zealand comedian Dai Henwood’s stage 4 cancer diagnosis and his approach to living, which was released through Harper's and became a bestseller.
