More about
Ben Shields Catlin
A graduate of Santa Clara University with a BA in History, Ben Shields Catlin is an artist-focused producer who loves working in all genres but specializes in comedy and horror. Ben’s independent film and TV production company Story in the Sky (fka the Storyhouse) has set up a handful of film projects, most notably: Ben is producing SAM & KATE by Darren Le Gallo alongside Amy Adams with Dustin Hoffman set to direct and Chris Messina set to star; and THE PRISON BARD, which he is working on alongside Academy Award-winning producer Donna Gigliotti. Additionally, Ben has set up Justin Lin’s THE STANDOFF for Netflix and two (as yet unannounced) TV series, including PILL CITY at Netflix with Jay-Z executive producing and Gerard McMurray writing and directing.
Ben began his career at ICM in the independent film financing division, assisting in the packaging and selling of independent films, such as Sidney Lumet’s BEFORE THE DEVIL KNOWS YOU’RE DEAD and Emilio Estevez’s BOBBY. Ben then helped run Justin Lin’s Perfect Storm Entertainment (S.W.A.T.; MAGNUM P.I.); was a producer/executive at IM Global (HACKSAW RIDGE; INSIDIOUS); and an executive at independent studio Overture Films where he oversaw production on such films as THE CRAZIES and LAST CHANCE HARVEY.
