Upon the unanimous recommendation of the MBA Negotiating Committee, the WGAW Board and WGAE Council conducted a strike authorization vote (SAV) from April 11-17, 2023.  97.85% of eligible voters voted in favor of striking. With the WGA set to strike beginning on May 1st, 2023 we know there are a lot of questions. It's very important for ALL writers (non-union/pre-WGA, union/WGA) to follow the WGA guidelines at all times, but especially during a strike. Anyone who is labeled a scab will not be able to join the WGA! To help answer some questions about what is and what is not allowed, Roadmap has put together this webinar with Roadmap Alumna Jeane Phan Wong, TV Writer, and  WGAw Captain.

Please note: specific guidelines from the WGA are still pending, so please be sure to check their site for updated guidelines as they become available. This webinar will not be recorded, but we will be sending out notes on what was discussed following the session.

Jeane Wong
TV Writer/WGA Captain. Co-Chair WGA Women's Committee
WGAw

A child of Vietnam War immigrants, Jeane is Vietnamese Chinese. She grew up on a steady diet of Sailor Moon and comic books in the San Gabriel Valley. After graduation from UCLA, she interned for her local congressman, focusing on public healthcare, and also was certified as a First Responder. But this work convinced her to live by her favorite Han Solo line "Never tell me the odds" and dive headfirst into her passion: Hollywood. She did NBC Writer’s on the Verge and the Women in Film Black List Episodic Lab. She has many published short stories and did a run on DC’s Vampire Diaries comics. She has sold numerous pilots in one hour drama and half hour comedy. She will make her directorial debut on a Paris By Night documentary about the iconic Vietnamese show. She has written freelances on The CW’s Arrow and just wrapped as a staff writer on Freemantle's Sandokan & Marianne.  Currently, Jeane has set up her Lunar New Year romcom with producer Aaliyah Williams, a feature Kpop pitch with John Legend, and is writing a murder mystery for Hallmark. She is looking for her next room and is open to TV and feature development. Her modus operandi is traumedy that reframes how we see things in the world, an element from her days in politics. She also can’t resist a good love triangle and some sweeping epic romance, especially in a genre world. She is repped by Buchwald Agency, Rain Management, and attorney Matthew Walerstein. In her spare time, Jeane is becoming a breakfast burrito sommelier, perfecting her old-fashioned recipe, and trying to achieve the “glass skin” and matchy fashion looks of her favorite Kpop idols.
