I would rather work one-on-one than in large groups, as I feel I can be more helpful that way. I also don't have a huge amount of bandwidth so I can only take on a small number.

More about Lucas Crandles

Lucas Crandles was head writer on Steven Spielberg's 2020 reboot of ANIMANIACS and PINKY AND THE BRAIN across three seasons, overseeing every element of production — from the writers' room to voice records, music composition and final animatics. The show was Hulu's most viewed original series in the United States, holds a 90% critical score on Rotten Tomatoes, and remains in the Top 10 of PVOD series on Apple TV in 2026.

Lucas wrote his first feature film, THE FINNISH LINE, in 2024. The film is fully financed, with an A-list director attached. His second feature, HELLO WORLD was written in 2025 and is being produced by J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot. He recently sold MOB HOUSE, a pilot inspired by his break into Hollywood, which is in active development with Tony Ayres Productions in Melbourne, Australia.

Lucas teamed with Vince Vaughn and Tom Morello on DUNGEON MASTERS, a live-action one-hour drama about the origins of Dungeons & Dragons, sold to Paramount Television Studios. He has also sold two adult animated comedy pilots he co-created: DESTROY THE HUMANS at Hulu with comic Blake Weber, and Janky & Guggimon at Amazon Studios, based on the popular Superplastic toy line.

Before moving to Los Angeles, Lucas wrote, directed and produced content in Australia, staffing on shows including OPEN SLATHER, a sketch comedy featuring some of Australia's leading comedic talent. His original Australian live-action comedy The Weatherman was the world's first crowdfunded TV series, was featured in TIME Magazine, and was eventually purchased by 20th Century Fox. His original digital content has also been viewed more than 3 million times online.

Lucas is represented by a leading talent agency and Zero Gravity Management. He is also an Adjunct Professor at Dodge College of Film and Media Arts at Chapman University, where he teaches Writing for Animation, and loves mentoring young people as they break into the entertainment industry.
