Comedy series directed at working 20s to 30s demographic or that give special insight to a sub-community (a la ATLANTA's surrealist protrayal of the Atlanta black hip-hop scene). Films that really capture the "zeitgeist" or essence of the writer's generation ( a la THE SOCIAL NETWORK for the new wave of tech entrepreneurs who reshaped how traditional business worked or MEAN GIRLS the complex social dynamics of 2000s suburban high school life).
Anything to do with K-Pop unless the writers themselves were involved directly in that industry. Don't need hot takes on something I'm very familiar with professionally.
Diane Kang is a Korean-American writer (for the screen, not yet literature) and producer currently based in Los Angeles, CA. After getting her BFA in Film & Television Product at NYU's Tisch School of Arts, Diane worked as an assistant and eventual associate producer for LA-based comedian, producer, and writer Grace Helbig. She went on to be Head Writer for Studio71's short form series "This Might Get" hosted by Grace Helbig and Mamrie Hart.
In 2018, she set off for the motherland -- Seoul, South Korea, where she worked as lead producer for the international media company, DIVE Studios. These shows primarily featured K-Pop artists and other Asia-based celebrities in both English and Korean languages, each of which was outlined and directed in-person by Diane. She also spent a summer as an adjunct instructor teaching long form improvisational comedy to graduate students in acting at the Seoul Institute of the Arts at their Namsan campus.
As of January this year, Diane has found her way back to Los Angeles to expand her work in bridging Asia and western creatives. Her current company affiliations are Anonymous Content Studios,Diamond M. Print Productions, and Penguin Publishing for directing audiobooks.
