BIO

Black List Recommended screenwriter Suzanne Griffin creates darkly romantic and drama and genre, driven by female desire and grit, whose fierce, witty protagonists risk everything to face down the forces that threaten their communities and loved ones.

A mature mom who's advocated for her learning-disabled son, Suzanne has a passion for narratives that celebrate and empower outsider voices. Chosen family, alliances among women, and the healing power of empathy are her frequent themes.

Suzanne's a Stowe Story Labs/PAGE Awards Fellowship Winner, twice a Nicholl Fellowship Semifinalist, a CineStory TV Pilot Finalist, and an Austin Film Festival Screenplay Competition Finalist. Suzanne was mentored by showrunners JaNeika and JaSheika James (Gossip Girl), through the Women In Film Writers Circle Program, and by showrunner Jane Espenson (GOT, Foundation) through the Pre-WGA Mentoring Program. She's twice been a Sundance Episodic Lab Second Rounder.

Suzanne's Romantic Horror pilot BROOKLYN GOTHIC was chosen as a 2026 Finalist for the Stowe Story Labs/Stacey A. Davis Law Firm Fellowship for women writers over 40.  BROOKLYN GOTHIC was developed at the HerArts Film Lab and Stowe's Writers Room Program.

Suzanne was the winner of the IFP (now the Gotham) Beigel Screenplay award, juried by screenwriters Mary Harron (American Psycho) and Jay Cocks (Gangs of New York), who called Suzanne's work "prodigally imaginative."  Suzanne received her MFA from NYU Graduate Film, with prizes in directing and producing, and is repped by Jonathan Taub at CT Media.
