Quarterfinalists, 2025 Roadmap Writers' Shorts Competition
BIO
SONEIL INAYAT is a Glasgow-born screenwriter of South Asian descent. Growing up straddling two cultures came with its share of stereotypes—"Does your dad own a shop?" to "What do you mean you don’t want an arranged marriage?" Bridging both worlds has been an internal challenge, playing guitar and sitar was one way (hey, it worked for The Beatles). As a kid, Soneil dreamt of a career in practical VFX, but a confused guidance counsellor steered him toward the sexy world of computers instead. Still, that detour, among others (working for the Government) deepened his understanding of people who live double lives; driving him to write about misfits, oddballs, and outsiders grappling with acceptance - whether that’s an excommunicated priest, a bounty hunter elf, or a prisoner-turned-vampire fighting to save his family. His projects have placed in Roadmap Writer schemes, the Austin Film Festival, and twice reached the semi-finals of Final Draft’s Big Break competition.
