BIO
NATE LANGFORD grew up in a small midwestern town. Knowing he was gay at a very young age was a lonely and terrifying journey. Because he was different than his big brothers and his friends, Nate turned to books and films to live someone else’s life in someone else’s world. He studied creative writing at the University of Minnesota and screenwriting at UCLA.
Nate writes in different genres, but one of his favorites is magical realism that blends humor, humanity, and a little mystery. Whether it’s his TV pilot Living Faraway, a dramedy set in the idyllic small town of Faraway, where secrets surface and life is celebrated in unexpected ways (imagine Ricky Gervais meeting David Lynch), or his animation series Kami The Origami Warrior that follows a young girl’s heroic journey from grief to greatness to become a superhero we have never seen before.
Nate continues to refine his craft under the mentorship of acclaimed screenwriter Jeff Howard (Oculus, The Haunting of Hill House, Gerald’s Game), whose guidance has helped elevate his writing to new levels.
Nate loves telling stories of people yearning for big lives in their small worlds. Through his writing he hopes to inspire others – to let them live through his characters and, in turn, reflect on their own lives and possibilities.
