BIO
Ever since Max was four years old, when he forced his parents to watch and act out THE WIZARD OF OZ with him every night, he has been captivated by the power of stories to transform the mundane into the magical. After attending NYU's MFA program in film, he now writes elevated genre stories with a mystical twist, using supernatural elements to force characters to confront painful truths in themselves and their relationships with others. His screenplay TIME FLIES won Bronze in the PAGE Awards and was a finalist in the Final Draft Big Break Competition. His screenplay HIT ME HARDER was featured on the GLAAD List, and his web series ROOT FOR THE VILLAIN screened at the Austin Film Festival. His first feature film as a writer/director, UPON WAKING, won the Alternative Spirit Award at the Rhode Island International Film Festival, was distributed by Buffalo 8, and is now streaming on Tubi, Plex, and Amazon Prime.
