BIO
J.D. Elliby considers himself a unicorn. He’s a Black man with freckles, and he makes his living in professional baseball. J.D. is a Major League Baseball Scout for the Tampa Bay Rays. He lives in Arlington, TX, but he’s rarely home. J.D. has traveled well over a million miles in search of the next MLB Star. He’s been chased down back roads in West Virginia, cornered by angry moms in parking lots, and he’s even been stranded in the heart of Mexican Cartel country with no cell service.
When he’s not stranded in cartel country, he’s crafting gritty pilots and features that center around fractured families and the dynamic women who hold those families together.
J.D. was recently hired as a staff writer on a vertical drama series.
His hour-long sports drama THE KINGMAKER (a pilot based on his stories as a baseball scout) is currently under a shopping agreement. His feature, THE BASEMENT (a crime thriller about a young girl in peril) has placed in Austin, PAGE, and Nashville.
