BIO
Gavin Ro Bennam is an LA-based screenwriter. He is the winner of the 2016 Fade In Awards for his screenplay "The Queen's Gambit" (no connection to the Netflix miniseries), the 2017 Page Awards for the screenplay "Pinocchio Wars," and the Stage 32 TV Pilot Drama Competition (2022) for the pilot "#DeathByShakespeare." He's been a finalist at various other marquee screenwriting competitions including Zoetrope and Nichols. Ro is of Austrian and Romanian descent, hence the nickname Ro. He holds advanced degrees in both Applied Mathematics and Creative Writing. In 2023, he co-founded Paranoya Films, a production company designed to produce high-value, POC short films that showcase the work of emerging directors (see more in the Additional Works). Due to time constraints, he does not maintain a social media presence as of now.
