BIO 


 

Douglas Trueman is a writer, entertainment journalist, and lifelong storyteller whose creative interests span film, television, novels, comics, theatre, and video games. A semi-professional jazz pianist and guitarist and a jiu-jitsu black belt, he brings an eclectic range of experiences to his storytelling. He holds a BA in English from the University of Calgary, an MA in Creative Writing from the University of London, and an MA in Communications from Toronto Metropolitan University. He also studied screenwriting at Vancouver Film School after placing second in a writing competition held by filmmaker Kevin Smith. His young adult novel Only the Good Die Young was a finalist in the 2015 Indie Book Awards, and his professional writing experience includes magazine and newspaper journalism, speeches, grant applications, technical writing, white papers, and video game strategy guides. As a screenwriter and novelist, Trueman gravitates toward character-driven genre stories, with projects including Byline, #Ask #Me #Anything, Christ, Incorporated, and Tabula Rasa.
