Semifinalist, 2026/2027 Top Tier Competition
BIO
Alina Amir is a Pakistani-American TV drama and comedy writer (much to the dismay of her engineer parents). She writes sharp-tongued South Asian women who thrive in the morally gray and use lies to chase their dreams or appease their families. After graduating from law school, she worked as a copywriter for five years.
She is currently pursuing her MFA in Screenwriting at UCLA, where she was awarded the Ron A. Baham Memorial Fellowship in Comedy and the John H. and Patricia W. Mitchell Fellowship. She was also named a UCLA Sloan Finalist and selected for Roadmap's Top Tier Program. Her pilot, The Other Side, was a semi-finalist in Scriptation's 2025 Showcase and her pilot, The Marriage Game, was a quarter finalist in Final Draft's Big Break 2025.
Alina has worked at several production companies including SK Global, Muse Entertainment, and Toluca Pictures, where she completed script coverage and tracked industry trends.
Despite bringing home a born-and-bred Pakistani husband, she continues to disappoint her parents with questions about God's sexism and lack of offspring. She currently lives in Los Angeles with her husband and opinionated orange tabby.
