Semifinalist, 2025 Roadmap Writers' Shorts Competition
BIO
ALEXANDER KOUROUPOS is a writer and director who was raised by his Black mother and Greek father. In his childhood, Alexander realized it was because he didn’t “look like his peers” that they often ostracized him. Always trying to outrun his trauma, Alexander was forced to a halt when a car crash landed him in a wheelchair. While learning to walk again, he confronted painful memories and life choices and now loves dark, character-driven genre stories about those at war within themselves confronting their lost innocence, trauma, and the insatiable desire for redress. His pilot, WHO WE ARE, was a semi-finalist in the Austin Film Festival, and he was a Gold Remi Award recipient from WorldFest Houston for directing HAUNTING TALES. Alexander now lives in New Jersey, where he enjoys writing and making killer tacos.
