Semifinalist, 2025 JumpStart Writing Competition
BIO
ALEC GUTTAS is focused on writing comedic dramas that contain introspective messages while keeping the emphasis on entertainment. He has studied screenwriting for 15 years, and his writing is finally starting to click. His road trip comedy, Mexico City, was selected as a finalist in the Wiki Screenplay contest (February) and has now been recognized as a top 50 feature in the 2025 Jumpstart Competition. His other projects, such as Mel, Franklin Heights, and Mental (now Sideline Stories), have received several semi-finalist positions from various competitive screenwriting competitions.
Mel has also received a "Strong Consider" from Script Reader Pro.
His TV pilot (Mental) was on the Redlist for 30-minute TV dramas, but he is looking to focus on the comedy side of screenwriting. He has since re-worked this pilot (Now Sideline Stories) into a dark comedy which demonstrates a raw and authentic voice in lived-in situations.
He has been studying shows like The Office, Modern Family, South Park, Parks and Recreation, Workaholics, and he is attempting to write some pilots that can compare, starting with Franklin Heights and now Sideline Stories. He has a lot of projects that are works in progress, and he is fully committed to a career in screenwriting and the film industry.
