Going into its third year, Roadmap Writers will host Black to the Future, a week-long celebration event of Black History Month and bringing awareness to diversity in the entertainment writing industry. Roadmap Writing is an education platform that can help “people looking for a guided path to professional success writing for film and TV."

Black to the Future is an extension of Roadmap Writers’ commitment to support and sustain diversity in Hollywood. Per Roadmap’s Director of Outreach and Diversity Initiatives, James Moorer, “Roadmap Writers has consistently held space for Black screenwriters since 2016 when we launched our Diversity Fellowship. Through our programs and introductions, we are committed to raising awareness, opportunity, and helping writers find a path to success. In its third year, Black to the Future is a celebration of inclusion and representation, and a beacon of hope for those yet to come.”

“Knowing the amount of valuable life experiences writers over 45 hold, having often transitioned from a first or even second career, it’s unfair that the industry isn’t more excited to accept their beautiful, lived-in stories,” Roadmap Writers cofounder and CEO Joey Tuccio said in a statement. “Roadmap Writers continues to support and elevate writers of all points of view, and we’re excited to find exciting voices from this initiative and do what we can to push their screenwriting careers forward!”

Off the backs of a Final Draft's Big Break, PAGE Awards, and Emerging Screenwriters' competitions, and with the help of Roadmap Writers, [Neer Musa Shelter] signed with literary management at The Cartel and [is] now preparing to take out several scripts next year.

Following the conclusion of the WGA strike, which has sent writers scrambling to either dive back into work or look for new opportunities, Roadmap Writers has reopened its free Support Staff Initiative, which helps get scripts from emerging talents in front of execs and literary reps.

11/03/22 - The UK’s Independent Film Trust, Sony Pictures Television and Roadmap Writers have named the 14 writers of color selected to take part in their transatlantic writers’ initiative, Creative Corridor. .

10/12/22 - HUSSLUP partners with Roadmap Writers to support diversity.

9/20/22 - Mentors and Guests are confirmed for the 2022 Writers Lab, and include Roadmap Writers.

8/8/22 - Independent Film Trust (IFT) has launched its second transatlantic “Creative Corridor” co-production initiative to increase screenwriter diversity in film and television... Roadmap Writers and FilmmarketHub are also lending their expertise to the initiative.

8/5/22 - Circle of Confusion, the talent management and production company behind “The Walking Dead,” has joined production and finance outfit Carte Blanche and Roadmap Writers’ genre screenwriting competition..

8/4/22 - ...Steerman has been a coordinator at the company since the start of the year, having previously served as TV coordinator at Circle of Confusion. She has also worked with Roadmap Writers to provide industry insight and script feedback to lift up emerging voices.

7/19/22 - Media talent discovery app Husslup has joined with Fuse Media, Keshet Studios and Roadmap Writers to expand its search initiatives in identifying the next generation of film and TV talent. ...the winners of its “Roadmap Writers x HUSSLUP Pitch Competition": Writers Sarah Mack and Josh Price landed the prize, a chance to pitch their completed script, “Shrink Retreat,” to Keshet International CEO Alon Shtruzman (LA BREA, THE MISSING).
