Female-driven comedies in the vein of BOOKSMART, INSECURE, and GIRLS!
Shruthi Nattanmai is a first-generation Indian American girlypop from Upstate NY who grew up being told she’d be a great lawyer (read: lots of opinions). Instead, she went to fashion school in NYC, where she learned just how devastating a lack of opinion could be, especially when it came to a horrendous trend. Now, Shruthi writes comedies about opinionated women who flirt with the steep cost of assimilation, and what it would take to pay it. Shruthi also works as a creative director across fashion, sports, and lifestyle media. She runs her own Substack, “Gen Z Aunty,” which has received over 10,000 reads and recognition from the Sundance Institute. In her free time, she enjoys playing tennis and complaining about how she has “nothing to wear.” Shruthi holds an MFA in Writing for Screen and Television from the University of Southern California.
