4-Day Weekend Box Office:
After delays and amid much speculation, TENET opened in the United States at #1 bringing in a debut of only $20.2M (Million) -- counting Thursday-Monday grosses, and 13 days of playing in Canada. The film earned a "B" CinemaScore from audiences who did attend screenings in available United States theaters.
WB has issued a statement that "any comparisons to the pre-COVID world would be inequitable and baseless," but for a film which needs to earn $450-500M global to not lose money, the outlook even under a best-case scenario is grim.
Worldwide, TENET now stands at a two-week total of $146M through Monday's estimates. The top market is China at a disappointing $30M opening, coming in second place in the territory. Other markets include the U.K. at $13.1M, France at $10.7M, Germany at $8.7M, and Korea at $8.2M.
THE NEW MUTANTS is #2 with $2.9M and a total of just $11.6M domestic, after falling an estimated -59% from its debut. Worldwide the film's total stands at just under $20M, meaning that even though it was a title inherited by Disney, it is unlikely to earn back even the studio's marketing expenses.
UNHINGED is #3 with $1.6M, a domestic total of only $11.3M, and $23.6M worldwide. The domestic hope had been to leg out close to $30M, but it is unlikely that the film will even reach a $20M total in the United States.
BILL & TED FACE THE MUSIC is #4 with $765K (Thousand) and a total of $2.26M theatrically. As a simultaneous Premium Video On Demand (PVOD) release, it has remained at the top of the charts for two weeks straight, though Orion has yet to release the financial figures.

THE SPONGEBOB MOVIE: SPONGE ON THE RUN is #6 with $345K playing exclusively in Canada, as the film is headed to CBS All Access in the United States. Total is $3.4M.
