Weekend Box Office Top Ten:
TENET is #1 with only $4.7M (Million) after falling another -30% from last weekend. The domestic total now stands at $36.1M, while worldwide is at $250M with most of international playing. This weekend added $25M overseas. At its current rate, the film is on target to finish somewhere between $325-350M global, meaning it will be a significant financial loss for WB.
THE NEW MUTANTS is #2 with $1.6M, a domestic total of only $17.7M, and a global total of $35M. While it was an acquisition from Fox, this Marvel film still won't recoup its marketing budget from Disney, which will see a moderate loss.
INFIDEL opened at #3 with $1.5M from upstart distributor Cloudburst Entertainment, a decent number for something which is designed more for the PVOD (Premium Video On Demand) market.
UNHINGED is #4 with $1.3M, dropping a very respectable -14.3% to bring the domestic total to $15.7M and the global total to $27.7M. While the film will not be profitable theatrically, it is expected to play well and ultimately become profitable via PVOD.
THE BROKEN HEARTS GALLERY is #5 with $800K (Thousand) and a total of only $2.4M for Sony, below expectations for the studio.
AFTER WE COLLIDED is #6 with $305K playing in Canada, while the U.S. debut is set for October. The total so far in North America is $1.2M, while internationally the film has earned over $30M with more to come.
THE SPONGEBOB MOVIE: SPONGE ON THE RUN is #7 with $210K and a total of $4.2M from Canada, while in the U.S. it will be released exclusively to CBS All Access/Paramount+.
ALONE opened at #8 with $190K playing at just 173 theaters.
BILL & TED FACE THE MUSIC is #9 with $188K and a total of $3.1M. It has been a simultaneous release across PVOD, and has remained at or near the top of the charts since release, though financial figures have not been disclosed.
THE PERSONAL HISTORY OF DAVID COPPERFIELD is #10 with $150K, a domestic total of $1.6M, and a worldwide total of $11.9M.
Other notable: MULAN has earned close to $60M from international territories where it is playing in theaters. In other territories it has been available via Disney+ Premier Access, where it is also available in the United States. Disney has not yet released any financial data from Premier Access, however.
The overall box office this weekend in North America totaled a disastrous $13.5M, down -12% from last weekend. There are no major releases currently on the schedule until October 23rd, where Disney still has dated DEATH ON THE NILE, though all releases are still subject to change.
