Weekend Box Office Top Ten:

THE PREDATOR opened at #1 with only $24M (Million) far on the lower end of tracking, and a disappointing U.S. debut for the reboot/sequel. Global debut stands at $54.7M for this Fox released, budgeted at $88M plus marketing, which means it will likely be a financial loss for the studio.

THE NUN held at #2 with $18.2M, a domestic total now of $85M, and an impressive $228.6M worldwide. Produced for just $22M plus marketing costs, this is another big hit for WB, and The Conjuring brand as a whole, which has been incredibly lucrative.

A SIMPLE FAVOR opened at #3 with $16M, far above expectations as the movie outperformed its tracking. Produced for just $20M plus marketing, this Lionsgate thriller will definitely be profitable for all involved.

WHITE BOY RICK opened at #4 with a disappointing $8.8M for struggling Studio 8, meaning this film which cost $29M plus marketing will prove to be a moderate financial loss.

CRAZY RICH ASIANS fell to #5 with $8.7M, a total of $149.5M domestically, and $187.4M worldwide. With a budget of $30M plus marketing, this film has been wildly profitable for WB as it nears the $200M global benchmark.

PEPPERMINT slid to #6 with $6M, and a total of $24M. Produced for $25M plus marketing, this film should be profitable when international kicks off, as expectations are the actioner will do well overseas, combined with its decent domestic run for STX.

THE MEG is #7 with $3.8M, a domestic total now of $137M, and a global haul of $505M. With a budget of around $150M plus marketing, this WB film has proven to be nicely profitable.

SEARCHING is #8 with $3.2M, a domestic total of $19.6M, and $45.8M worldwide. Acquired for only $5M, this Sony release has become very solidly profitable and a sleeper hit for the studio.

UNBROKEN: PATH TO REDEMPTION opened at #9 with $2.3M, as the faith-based audience ignored this release entirely.

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - FALLOUT is #10 with $2.3M, a domestic total of $216M, and a huge $760M globally. Produced for $178M plus marketing, the film has become a big hit for Paramount.
