Weekend Box Office Top Ten:

FAST & FURIOUS PRESENTS: HOBBS & SHAW opened at #1 with a solid $60.8M (Million) domestic debut right in line with tracking, and $180.8M globally, with several key territories, including China, yet to make their debut. Produced for $200M plus marketing, this film will reach profitability for Universal, albeit at a lower level than recent installments of the main franchise.

THE LION KING is #2 with $38.2M, a domestic total of $430.8M, and a massive $1.195 Billion globally so far, without slowing down. For Disney, this is a tremendous success, and the second-biggest release of the year. Disney will finish the year with seven out of the top ten films, after FROZEN 2 and THE RISE OF SKYWALKER open during the holidays.

ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD is #3 with $20M, and a total of $78.8M and climbing. International has yet to open, where this film is expected to be big thanks to the Tarantino brand and the stars involved. Produced for $90M plus marketing, this is well set to be profitable for Sony.

SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME is #4 with $7.7M, a domestic total of $360.3M, and $1.075M Billion globally. This will pass SPIDER-MAN 2 to become Sony's second-biggest film in the franchise ever domestically, and now looks likely to pass SKYFALL to become the top Sony release ever worldwide. All three films produced by Marvel Studios this year have earned more than $1B globally each, continuing the MCU's unprecedented run as must-see theatrical events.

TOY STORY 4 is #5 with $7.1M, a domestic total of $410M, and $959M worldwide. By next weekend, it will become the biggest Toy Story film ever domestically, which means it will move up to being the third-biggest Pixar film; while globally this remains Pixar's fourth-biggest title of all-time.

YESTERDAY is #6 with $2.4M, a domestic total of $67.9M, and $118.9M worldwide. Produced for $26M plus marketing, this will finish its theatrical run with more than $100M+ over its budget, in a nice win for Universal.

THE FAREWELL expanded at #7 with $2.4M playing in just 409 theaters, and bringing the total to $6.8M for A24.

CRAWL is #8 with $2.1M, a domestic total of $36M, and $53.6M worldwide. Produced for $13.5M plus marketing, this film has already reached profitability for Paramount, and will make close to 3X its budget domestically alone, a good result for this sleeper horror success.

ALADDIN is #9 with $2M, a domestic total of $350M, and $1.025 Billion globally. Not much more needs to be said about the surprise smash of the summer, which out-performed even the biggest projections both in the U.S. and across the world.

ANNABELLE COMES HOME is #10 with $875K, a domestic total of $71.5M, and $211M worldwide, making this another profitable CONJURING installment for WB.

Next weekend is crowded, as horror film SCARY STORIES TO TELL IN THE DARK, crime drama THE KITCHEN, kids flick DORA AND THE LOST CITY OF GOLD, and feel-good dog drama THE ART OF RACING IN THE RAIN all open hoping to score with their respective audiences.
