4-Day Weekend Box Office:

ALADDIN opened at #1 with an impressive $112M (Million) domestic, and global debut of $233.7M. Produced for $183M plus marketing, this is a nice win for Disney, and should have no problem reaching profitability for the studio.

JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 3 - PARABELLUM is #2 with $31M, a domestic total of $107.6M, and $182M worldwide, to already claim the top record in the franchise after just two weekends, with much more to come. This is a huge hit for Lionsgate, with a spin-off, television series, and fourth film in the works to meet the audience demand for more stories in the Wick Universe.

AVENGERS: ENDGAME is #3 with $22.3M, a domestic total of $803.6M, and $2.682 Billion worldwide for Marvel and Disney, the crowning achievement of their superhero properties.

POKEMON DETECTIVE PIKACHU is #4 with $17.2M, a domestic total of $120M, and $356.8M worldwide. Produced for $150M plus marketing, this WB film is marching towards profitability, with a sequel in development.

BRIGHTBURN opened at #5 with a so-so $9.5M domestic, and $17.3M worldwide. Produced for $6M plus marketing, this film is coming in a bit lower than expected, but should still be solidly profitable for Screen Gems.

BOOKSMART opened at #6 with $8.6M, lower than expected despite the critical praise for this teen comedy. With a $10M budget and modest marketing campaign, it could still reach break-even but will largely depend on how well it holds. Either way, it is a disappointing result for a genre that has struggled recently with audiences.

A DOG'S JOURNEY is #7 with $5.5M, a domestic total of $16.3M, and a much better worldwide total of $47.9M. While lower than previous films in this sub-genre, it should still be able to reach profitability for Universal.

THE HUSTLE is #8 with $4.7M, a domestic total of $30.8M, and a worldwide total of $67M.

THE INTRUDER is #9 with $2.9M, and a total of $32.5M. Produced for just $8M plus marketing, this is another solid success for Screen Gems.

LONG SHOT is #10 with $2.1M, a domestic total of $29.2M, and $39.4M worldwide, in a disappointing result for Lionsgate.

Next weekend sees the debut of sequel GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS (now with the added STRANGER THINGS boost of Millie Bobby Brown), Elton John biopic ROCKETMAN, and thriller MA to close out the month and kick off what is set to be another busy and lucrative June.
