Weekend Box Office Top Ten:

SHAZAM! opened at #1 with $53.4M (Million) and a total domestic debut, including previews, of $56.7M. The global opening stands at an impressive $158.7M, as the film exceeded all tracking expectations and received an "A" CinemaScore from audiences, suggesting it will have strong holds ahead and benefit from positive word-of-mouth. Produced for $90M plus marketing, this will be a nicely profitable hit for WB, and yet another successful DC-branded superhero film.

PET SEMATARY opened at #2 with a strong $25M domestically, and $42.3M worldwide. Produced for just $20M plus marketing by Paramount, this will easily reach profitability, and continue the string of studio-produced horror hits.

DUMBO fell to #3 with $18.2M, a domestic total of $76.2M, and $213.7M worldwide. Produced for $170M plus marketing, this one will be a sharp financial loss for Disney.

US is #4 with $13.8M, a domestic total of $152.3M, and $216.5M worldwide. Produced for $20M plus marketing, this horror smash has reached over 10X its budget globally, with more to be earned for Universal, which financed and distributed for writer/director Jordan Peele.

CAPTAIN MARVEL held at #5 with $12.6M, a domestic total of $374.1M, and hugely impressive $1.037 Billion for Marvel Studios and Disney.

THE BEST OF ENEMIES opened at #6 with just $4.5M for STX. Even produced for only $10M plus a moderate marketing campaign, this will be a loss.

FIVE FEET APART is #7 with $3.7M, a domestic total now of $41.5M, and $62.5M worldwide, giving Lionsgate another original success, as this sleeper hit has done remarkably well.

UNPLANNED is #8 with $3.2M, and a total of $12.4M for Pure Flix. Produced for $6M plus a modest marketing campaign, this will be solidly profitable for the faith-based distributor.

WONDER PARK is #9 with $2M, a domestic total of $41.9M, and $59.9M worldwide, in what will be a sizeable flop for Paramount in relation to its $100M budget plus marketing costs.

HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON: THE HIDDEN WORLD is #10 with $1.9M, a domestic total of $156.6M, and a terrific $508M globally. Produced for $129M plus marketing, this is a strong end to the very successful trilogy for Dreamworks Animation and Universal.

Next week sees debuts for HELLBOY, LITTLE, and MISSING LINK, while all eyes are now on the April 26th debut for AVENGERS: ENDGAME and the kickoff to what will be a massive, highly lucrative summer movie season.
