Weekend Box Office Top Ten:

US debuted at #1 with a stunning $70.2M (Million) debut, and an early $86.9M worldwide. Produced for just $20M plus marketing, this is already profitable for Universal after a single weekend, in another big win for Jordan Peele as a filmmaker, and for the horror genre, which saw this film turn into an event, must-see movie for audiences following a brilliant marketing campaign, far exceeding where tracking had the film even heading into this weekend.

CAPTAIN MARVEL is #2 with $35M, a domestic total of $321.4M, and an impressive $910.2M global haul. This Disney/Marvel smash will easily cross the $1 Billion threshold and higher before the end of its run, as the Marvel brand remains the biggest draw for audiences both in the U.S. and across the world.

WONDER PARK is #3 with $9M, a domestic total of $29.7M, and $39.6M worldwide. This troubled production cost around $100M plus marketing, and will prove a sharp loss for Paramount.

FIVE FEET APART is #4 with $8.7M, a domestic total of $26.4M, and an early $32.7M worldwide, on its way to becoming a solid hit for Lionsgate and exceeding expectations greatly, as the teenage audience continues to show up and reward this film based off strong word-of-mouth.

HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON: THE HIDDEN WORLD is #5 with $6.5M, a domestic total of $145.7M, and a global take of $488M. Produced for $129M plus marketing, this has become a nicely profitable hit for Universal and Dreamworks Animation.

TYLER PERRY'S A MADEA FAMILY FUNERAL is #6 with $4.5M, and a total now of $65.8M, as this is another profitable hit for the filmmaker and Lionsgate, ending the Madea franchise on a strong note.

GLORIA BELL is #7 with $1.8M and a total of $2.4M, playing in just 654 theaters this weekend.

NO MANCHES FRIDA 2 is #8 with $1.7M, and a total of $6.6M for Pantelion and Lionsgate.

THE LEGO MOVIE 2: THE SECOND PART slid to #9 with $1.1M, a domestic total of $103.3M, and $179.5M worldwide. With a budget of $100M plus marketing, this is a financial loss for WB.

ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL is #10 with $1M, a domestic total of $83.7M, and $399.8M worldwide, soon to cross the $400M threshold globally this upcoming week, or just enough to leave the potential franchise's future up in the air, given its production budget of $170M plus a pricey marketing campaign.

Other notables: SHAZAM! earned a hugely impressive $3.3M in a Fandango sneak preview event on Saturday night. This is higher than paid previews for HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON: THE HIDDEN WORLD ($2.6M), and higher than AQUAMAN, which brought in $2.9M in previews held by Amazon Prime. This total will be folded into the April 5th debut for the DC superhero film.

Next weekend sees the debut of DUMBO as the only new wide-release, as Disney hopes to score big with family audiences on Tim Burton's re-imagining of their animated classic.
