Weekend Box Office Top Ten:

CAPTAIN MARVEL is #1 for the second weekend in a row with an impressive $69.3M, a domestic total now of $266.2M, and a global haul of $760.2M and rising. All told, the Marvel Studios smash will finish its domestic run in the $400M range, and will definitely cross the $1 Billion threshold worldwide, in another major victory for Disney.

WONDER PARK opened at #2 with a disappointing $16M opening, meaning this $100M budgeted animated film from Paramount is assured to post a sharp financial loss.

FIVE FEET APART opened at #3 with a solid $13.1M debut, above expectations as the teen audience showed up in bigger numbers than anticipated. Produced for only $7M plus marketing, this Lionsgate release will be nicely profitable.

HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON: THE HIDDEN WORLD held at #4 with $9.3M, a domestic total of $135.6M, and $466.5M worldwide. Produced for $129M plus marketing, this is a solid hit for Universal and Dreamworks Animation, as the trilogy of Dragon films ends on a strong note.

TYLER PERRY'S A MADEA FAMILY FUNERAL is #5 with $8M, and a total of $59M and rising. Produced in the $20-25M range plus marketing, this is another profitable entry in the franchise for Lionsgate, as audiences continue to show up for Tyler Perry's final film as his signature creation.

NO MACHES FRIDA 2 opened at #6 with $3.8M, on par with the first film in this series and posting a very solid number for Lionsgate and Pantelion, which will make a nice profit off this Spanish-language release.

CAPTIVE STATE opened at #7 with a disastrous $3.1M from Focus Features, as this release, costing around $25M plus marketing, could not stand out in a crowded marketplace and will quickly disappear.

THE LEGO MOVIE 2: THE SECOND PART is #8 with $2.1M, a domestic total of $101.3M, and $171.4M worldwide. Produced for $100M plus marketing, this will be a financial loss for WB, and the end of the theatrical Lego franchise for the immediate future.

ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL fell to #9 with $1.9M, a domestic total of $81.8M, and $394M worldwide as the film is set to pass the $400M mark by the end of next weekend. Produced for $170M plus marketing, this will essentially finish its theatrical run in the break-even range for Fox, a disappointing result which leaves its franchise potential in doubt, despite big international numbers.

GREEN BOOK is #10 with $1.2M, a domestic total of $82.6M, and a great $274M worldwide total as the film wraps up its theatrical run having won numerous awards and at a $23M budget, tremendous profitability for Universal.

Next weekend sees the launch of Jordan Peele's highly-anticipated US as the only new release, looking at an impressive debut and continuing the hot streak at the box office ever since Carol Danvers and co. brought life back into the marketplace.
