Weekend Box Office Top Ten:

BAD BOYS FOR LIFE is #1 again with an impressive $34M (Million) down just -45.6% from its debut last week, in a terrific hold which brings the film to $120.4M domestic and a global total of $215.6M and climbing. Produced for $90M plus marketing, this Sony hit is well on its way to profitability, with a fourth film in development.

1917 held on at #2 with $15.8M, a domestic total of $103.8M, and $200.4M worldwide. Produced for $90M plus marketing, this award-winner and Best Picture front runner is marching towards profitability for Universal.

DOLITTLE is #3 with $12.5M, a domestic total of $44.6M, and $91M worldwide. Produced for $175M plus marketing, this will be a significant financial loss for Universal.

THE GENTLEMEN opened at #4 with a solid $11M domestic, and a worldwide total of $33.5M. It's a good start for STX and slightly above where tracking had it. The studio purchased U.S. rights for $7M plus a modest marketing campaign, and will see profitability off the release.

JUMANJI: THE NEXT LEVEL is #5 with $7.9M, a domestic total of $283.4M, and a highly impressive global haul of $737.4M for Sony, another massive success for the studio.

THE TURNING opened at #6 with a disappointing $7.3M for Universal. The good news is that the film carried a budget of just $14M plus a modest marketing campaign, meaning it will only be a slight financial loss.

STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER is #7 with $5.1M, a big domestic total of $501M and $1.046 Billion globally. While the lowest of the trilogy and a disappointing result in context, it is still highly profitable for Disney, which will likely see significant changes to Lucasfilm this year as they seek to reignite excitement for the brand in the wake of THE MANDALORIAN's tremendous success on their streaming platform.

LITTLE WOMEN is #8 with $4.7M, a domestic total of $93.7M, and $146.7M worldwide. At some point soon, this smash hit will pass the $100M mark in the U.S., and more impressively, is still only playing in about half of the global markets, suggesting a lot of room ahead for even higher grosses internationally. Produced for only $40M plus marketing, this is already nicely profitable for Sony.

JUST MERCY is #9 with $4M, a domestic total of $27M and an early $30M worldwide. Produced for only $17M plus a modest marketing campaign, this is headed towards the break-even range for WB, and should be profitable with the home release.

KNIVES OUT is #10 with $3.6M, a big domestic total of $151M, and an impressive $283M global total for Lionsgate, as the surprise smash of last fall, and a film which has stayed in the top ten since Thanksgiving.

Next weekend is a quiet one, with the only new releases being horror film GRETEL & HANSEL, and action/thriller THE RHYTHM SECTION, ahead of a much more busy, and potentially lucrative, month of February beginning with WB'S BIRDS OF PREY.
