Weekend Box Office Top Ten:

FROZEN 2 opened at #1 with $127M (Million) domestic and $350M worldwide, as international will be a staggered rollout to capitalize on school holidays. This launch marks the biggest opening for an animated film ever in the month of November, and promises yet another $1 Billion hit from Disney. Next up for the studio is THE RISE OF SKYWALKER, but until then, expect to see this highly-anticipated animated smash continue to play over the next several weeks.

FORD V. FERRARI held at #2 with $16M, a domestic total of $57.9M, and $103M worldwide. With the Thanksgiving holiday still ahead, expect to see a solid bump which will increase this film's multiple after shedding many deluxe format screens this past weekend to make way for Frozen. Produced for $97M plus marketing, this one is expected to reach profitability for Fox and Disney, especially with awards season still to come.

A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD opened at #3 with a solid $13.5M for Sony. Produced for only $25M plus marketing, this will reach profitability for the studio in addition to being an awards contender. Like other releases during this time of the year, a smaller opening number will yield better holds as the audience shows up over this holiday week and next weekend, plus through the month of December.

21 BRIDGES opened at #4 with a decent $9.3M for STX. Produced for $33M, this film should be able to reach profitability depending on its holds and how international plays out, with STX on the hook only for half the budget and the domestic marketing campaign.

MIDWAY is #5 with $4.7M, a domestic total of $43M, and $81.7M worldwide. Produced for $100M plus marketing, it will be a sharp financial loss for all involved.

PLAYING WITH FIRE is #6 with $4.6M, a domestic total of $31.6M, and an early $36.7M worldwide. Produced for $30M plus marketing, this one will at the least reach breakeven range for Paramount.

THE GOOD LIAR is #7 with $3.3M, a domestic total of $11.7M, and $17M worldwide. With a budget of only $10M plus marketing, this will be a moderate financial loss for WB.

CHARLIE'S ANGELS fell to #8 with $3.1M, a domestic total of only $13.9M, and $43.5M worldwide for Sony. Produced for $48M plus an expensive marketing campaign, this will be a financial loss for the studio, which is expected to rebound nicely when JUMANJI: THE NEXT LEVEL opens in December.

LAST CHRISTMAS is #9 with $3M, a domestic total of $27.7M, and $51.7M worldwide. With a budget of $25M plus marketing, this has already hit the breakeven range for Universal, and could still go on to profitability depending on how international continues to play.

JOKER is #10 with $2.8M, a huge domestic total of $326.9M, and a stunning global haul of $1.035 Billion for WB, as this hit DC Comics villain origin winds down its run, and talks of a sequel have already begun, ahead of an awards campaign which could drive the film's final worldwide numbers even higher.

This next weekend will continue to be ruled by the holdovers, but Wednesday will see KNIVES OUT and QUEEN & SLIM both join the marketplace. Knives Out in particular is tracking for an impressive debut, and yielded $2M on Friday night alone in select previews, with interest high for Rian Johnson's star-studded murder mystery.
