About Your Host

Val McLeroy has been a development executive and production executive at several companies including Atlantic Entertainment and Green/Epstein Productions. While at Green/Epstein he produced several TV movies - two of which he also wrote for Lifetime (Spirit [nominated for a Genesis award] and Heart of the Storm). As a writer himself, he understands the needs and concerns of writers. He has been partnered with Doug Draizin in their own management company for a number of years. The thrust of their business is the management of writers and directors. Many of their clients are taken on fresh out of undergrad or masters’ programs. He currently has writers working at Netflix, Lucasfilm, eOne, Hallmark and AMC. As a former teacher of high school English and Drama, Val has remained committed to giving back to those just launching their careers. He has read Spring Competition scripts for UCLA writing masters. Which included submitting comments on how to improve the material as well as including as many positive comments as he can about the script. He also was a mentor for Loyola Marymount writing master graduates. Val is a graduate of Michigan State University with a BFA in English, Theatre, and Education. He subsequently completed a year of post-baccalaureate study in business and communications.
