Let’s face it. There are a million different paths to success. That’s true to some degree for most industries, but even more so for Tinseltown. We get it, and so we understand why it’s important to hear from people who have achieved what you want to achieve. Learn what their obstacles were, how they overcame them, and take what you can from those lessons to apply to your own life.
While it is true that there are as many paths to success as there are people, we can all learn something from how someone else did it. That’s why Roadmap is thrilled to have our lovely alumna Amena Kheshtchin-Kamel back to share her story!
This 90-Minute Webinar Will Cover:
Amena Kamel is a New York born, mixed race first generation American writer in her 20s. Caught between three different cultures, Amena is an expert at navigating multi-cultural and racial identity, and her stories focus on exploring identity. She holds a Juris Doctorate from ASU’s Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law, with a certification in Science & Technology, specializing in Intellectual Property Law. A force to reckon with at the podium, Amena excelled at legal advocacy and was nominated into the Order of Barristers for excellence in written and verbal advocacy. Amena left the legal professional to focus on writing, channeling her sharpened written skills to elevate her writing portfolio.
This year, Amena joined Roadmap’s Career Writer Program, which led her to signing with manager Seth Nagel of Seth Nagel Management LLC for Film/TV as a writer, composer, and actress. They just closed a book property to feature film deal for her to pen for producer Robert Mitas (Netflix’s RATCHED), and they are also currently shopping two of her original TV pilots – CRYSTALL PALACE and OBSCURIA – to interested producers and buyers.
Amena relentlessly creates, as she has her debut manuscript I DON’T BELONG slated for publication, and she’s onto her second book. She’s also developing two graphic novels – THE NURTURERS (YA Sci-fi) and OBSCURIA (based on her Sci-fi pilot). Amena just signed with The Seymour Agency for her manuscripts and graphic novels through Roadmap’s Career Authors Program.
She is founder and host of her legal podcast, Legal-Ease Podcast (can be streamed on iHeartRadio, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts), which has a wide audience. Her podcast is sponsored by and partnered with her alma mater ASU Law. Her journalistic work on reporting the COVID-19 outbreak is featured in the Arizona State Bar’s Attorney Magazine, and most recently her criminal justice podcasting work has been featured on ABC News. You can follow her on twitter @amenakamel.
