Pitch Tips

Have fun with your pitch, engage with the audience and tell a story versus reading from a script. Try to focus on just the most important characters, too many characters can be hard to follow in a pitch. Do your best to clearly identify tone and structure; pilot beats are helpful.

About Your Host

After graduating from Ithaca College with a degree in Television Scriptwriting, Shayna began her television career in 2008 working on hit shows WEEDS and UNITED STATES OF TARA. Following this, she spent four years in the TV division at Relativity Media, most notably developing the CBS series LIMITLESS and Sony Crackle's START UP. This led to three years in overall deals at CBS TV Studios, where she focused on discovering new talent and meeting up-and-coming writers. As Manager of Development for Glenn Geller, she helped sell upwards of ten pitches to the studio, as well as set up seven of those projects at networks and streaming platforms including CW, CBS, ABC, and Netflix. Shayna is currently the Director of Development and Client Partnerships at Storied Media Group (SMG), where she has been for the past year. Storied Media has exclusive representation agreements with The Washington Post, The Guardian, NPR, and many others around the globe. Shayna is responsible for curating these publications, packaging the stories, and selling them to studios. She is also developing a slate of projects based on IP, and is constantly looking for great writers to attach.
