Do you feel like you have a whole host of ideas rattling around in your head but have no idea which one to focus on? Do you want guidance and advice as you prepare something new? Do you want a weekly meeting with tailored assignments to hold you accountable as you develop your next project?

If you said yes to any of these, then an Incubator is just what the doctor ordered! This brand new, four-week class will put you through your development paces and ensure that you get writing on the best foot possible.

This Class Will Cover:

  • Story structure
  • Keeping conflict interesting and escalating
  • Crafting satisfying character arcs
  • And more! 

Class Structure:

Week #1 - Writers will submit concept, logline, character breakdowns, and outline prior to the first week's class for the instructor to review. The instructor will give verbal feedback this week.

Week #2 - Writers will submit their revised outline prior to this week and the instructor will make sure each writer's outline is structurally sound by giving another round of notes to fine tune.

Week #3 - Writers will submit the first act for the instructor to give feedback on in this class.

Week #4 - Writers will submit a revised act one and as many pages as they can write prior to this week's class for the instructor to review and give verbal feedback on in this class!

About Your Host

Maddie Breeland is originally from Northern Virginia and went to Emerson College in Boston to study Producing for Film & TV before venturing out to LA to begin her career. She started as a Development Assistant at Fox 2000 before working for as Sean Bailey (President, Walt Disney Live Action Features) and eventually being promoted to Development Coordinator at Disney. She recently joined Dean DeBlois' company, Anvil Pictures as Director of Development. There she will be produce and develop live action and hybrid content as part of their deal with Universal. They are working on projects such as Treasure Island and Micronauts. She's a fan of all genres but personally loves action, adventure, sci-fi/fantasy, thrillers, and true crime documentaries. She is also a huge advocate for Diversity and Inclusion and would love to make content that promotes underrepresented groups.

What To Expect

Immediately after registering, you will receive an Order Confirmation email that serves as the receipt for your registration. In the Order Summary section of this email you will find a link reading "CLICK HERE FOR INSTRUCTIONS" that will take you to your syllabus, instructions for submitting material (if any), and the link to join the Live Class. Sessions are conducted via video conferencing software ZOOM. You will receive a link to the recording of the session via email following the live session.

Payment Plans

Payment plans are available for most multi-week classes. For 4-week programs, your balance will be due the second week of class. For longer programs, the balance will be broken up into 3 or 4 payments with the final payment due prior to the final week of class. Please note that you are responsible for the full price of the class even if you decide not to complete the program for any reason.

Cancellation Policy

You may cancel for a full refund up to 72 hrs. prior to the start of the class. Cancellations requested after this deadline will be ineligible for refunds.
