Roadmap Exclusive Interview!

What elements are you most looking for when listening to a pitch?

I need to know what is most compelling about the protagonist and how their personal journey informs the direction of the story.

What's the most common mistake you see when writers pitch?

The most common mistake is illustrating scene-by-scene when it should be the broad strokes of the acts.

What makes you keep turning the page?

Cliffhangers.

What is one of the biggest pitfalls a writer can fall victim to when writing a script?

Overwriting stage/scene direction that could be relayed through dialogue. Vice/Versa.

What is your biggest pet peeve to avoid during a pitch?

Being self-deprecating.

Pitch Tips

I look for an insanely dynamic first 30 seconds that is packed with action and an exciting tease!
