Rachel Skidmore is an independent creator/producer who most recently served as the Vice President of Film and Television at Robert Kirkman’s Skybound Entertainment. Since her departure in late-2019, Skidmore's efforts are focused on female-driven dramas with heart, humor and creativity. In addition to her development efforts, as a long-time champion for emerging talent, Skidmore is a consistent collaborator when it comes to staffing rooms for streaming shows and identifying writers with a flair for adaptations. At Skybound, Skidmore expanded comic IP into traditional mediums and vetted new creators to bring into the fold through Film/TV adaptations. Her scripted projects primarily serviced first look deals with Amazon Studios and Universal Pictures. Skidmore served as Co-EP on Robert Kirkman’s Secret History of Comics for AMC and oversaw all of Skybound’s unscripted development efforts including Dead by Dawn, the first-ever horror nature hybrid for NatGeo Wild. Previously, Skidmore was the Executive Producer for two seasons of YouTube Red’s launch title Scare PewDiePie, a horror-prank series inspired by the worlds of video games. Additionally, Skidmore developed and produced non-traditional content, VR/AR projects and other innovative partnerships. She is known for her work as an Executive Producer on the first-ever scripted VR series Gone, and the horror VR series based on the live-immersive play Delusion: Lies Within, both for Samsung VR. She also served as Executive Producer on the pilot episode for VR anthology series The Incident, entitled Dinner Party. The critically acclaimed short is based on a true story of the first-reported alien abduction in the 1960s. The critically acclaimed short was featured at over 30 festivals including Sundance, SXSW, Tribeca and Cannes. The film won the VR Grand Jury Prize at the Fantasia Film Festival and the VR Award at Raindance in 2018. Prior to joining Skybound, Rachel was a talent manager and producer at Big Frame, a boutique influencer management firm that was eventually acquired by Dreamworks/AwesomenessTV. There, she was the Director of the content vertical Wonderly, which celebrated the creative minds and voices of influential young women online. Skidmore regularly speaks on the topics of multi-platform entertainment, building IP franchises, and producing for organizations such as Google, YouTube, Cablefax, Digital Hollywood, Women in Focus, TV of Tomorrow and VidCon, and on podcasts such as Hiding in the Bathroom and The Real Virtual Show. Originally from Springfield, Missouri, Skidmore holds a B.S. in Electronic Arts from Missouri State University and an M.F.A. in Film and Television Producing from Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film and Media Arts. Skidmore resides in Manhattan Beach where she spends most of her free time at the beach, with her dog Tom Haverford, woodworking, or playing competitive skee ball (yes, that’s a thing).
